There have been four movies already with Chad Stahelski directing and Keanu Reeves acting. The first spin-off movie that will be in theaters is called “Ballerina,” starring Ana De Armas. There’s also a show coming out later this year called “The Continental,” which will be a story that happened before the movies.

Before the fourth John Wick movie came out in early 2023, people were already talking about a fifth movie. People were unsure if those talks were true, but now Lionsgate, the company behind the movies, has confirmed what fans were wishing for even before the fourth movie was released.

As we find out more about John Wick 5, we’re keeping this story up to date with all the details. We’ve provided all the important information you should know. The most recent update was made on July 19, 2023.

After a long time of avoiding some powerful people called the Table, Keanu Reeves’ character John Wick finally managed to finish what he owed to them in John Wick: Chapter 4. It seemed like he died by the end of the movie.

But here’s the thing: they didn’t clearly show whether he really died or not. So, there’s a chance he might return for another exciting journey in the world of worldwide secret killing.

#1. Donnie Yen – Caine

In John Wick 4, they brought in a famous martial artist and actor named Donnie Yen. He became a part of the exciting world of the movie as a character called Caine. Caine is a skilled fighter who can’t see and used to be friends with John Wick. He was hired to kill the main assassin played by Keanu Reeves, but by the end of the movie, they made up and became friends again.

At the end of John Wick 4, there’s a scene after the credits where Caine is shown. This hints that there might be more stories about him in the future movies. In that scene, he’s confronted by Akira, who was upset with him for causing trouble at the Tokyo Continental earlier in the fourth film.

#2. Laurence Fishburne – Bowery King

Laurence Fishburne, who acted alongside his former co-star in The Matrix, has now become part of the John Wick story. He plays the character called the Bowery King, who is a leader in the hidden world. The Bowery King has been a great support to John Wick, helping him escape from dangerous killers over the years.

Since Fishburne’s character, the Bowery King, is in charge of a secret international group called the Soup Kitchen, it’s quite probable that he has information about whether Mr. Wick managed to survive the events of John Wick: Chapter 4.

#3. Ian McShane – Winston Scott

Ian McShane’s character, Winston Scott, is a dear friend and ally of John Wick, played by Reeves. In the John Wick series, Winston is like a respected elder and used to oversee the New York Continental hotel. In the last scene he was in, he was seen at John’s grave, along with the Bowry King.

We’re not sure if John is really dead or not. But it looks like Winston might have an idea about what truly happened to John. If John is alive, Winston might ask him to do one final task.

#4. Shamier Anderson – Tracker

There’s another interesting character who could have their own story in a movie related to John Wick. This character is Tracker, played by a Canadian actor named Shamier Anderson. Tracker is a bounty hunter and was trying to catch and kill John Wick to make money. But things changed after John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, helped him. Tracker decided to assist John instead.

We don’t know much about Tracker’s past or where he came from. So, if there’s a fifth John Wick movie, it might reveal more about Tracker’s background.

John Wick 5 Trailer: When Would It Come Out?

There isn’t any information available yet about the trailer for John Wick 5, because the movie doesn’t have a release date set.

But, looking back at the previous John Wick movies starting from John Wick: Chapter 2, their first trailers usually came out around six months before the movies were released.

So, when they finally announce the release date for John Wick 5, fans can expect a trailer to come out within about six months of that date.

If they start filming John Wick 5 soon, there are a couple of places where its trailer might show up. One possibility is as a teaser before the upcoming Ballerina spin-off movie, which is supposed to come out in 2024. Another chance is that the trailer could play before the main movie during its theatrical release.

As of July 2023, we’re still not sure when John Wick 5 will come out. The company that makes the movies, Lionsgate, recently said they’re working on it, but it’s going to take some time before they tell us the exact date.

Based on what’s happened before, I think we can make a pretty good guess about when the movie will be ready. The last three John Wick movies came out over the past six years, which is pretty cool because they managed to release each one within two or three years.

So, considering all of that, it’s most likely that John Wick 5 won’t be in theaters until 2025 at the earliest, or maybe even 2026. It’s definitely not going to be ready in 2024, so we’ll have to be patient and wait quite a bit longer for the fifth movie.

Is John Wick dead? Will Keanu Reeves be in John Wick 5?

Guess what? John Wick is still alive! It might seem like he’s gone for good at the end of the fourth movie (spoilers alert!), with a gravestone next to his wife and all. But hold on a second. They’re not just changing the name; it’s still “John Wick 5”! They can’t possibly keep the story going without him, right?

I’m so excited to see how they explain his “death” and bring him back in. We all kind of expect it to happen, and that will only make the legendary John Wick even more epic.

We haven’t heard for sure that Keanu Reeves will be back in John Wick 5, but that doesn’t mean he won’t show up for the fifth movie in his own series or the sixth one overall. Honestly, I’d be really surprised if Reeves decided not to be a part of John Wick 5. There’s definitely more to the story, and I have this feeling that this franchise is just getting started.

Would John Wick 5 Be the Last One?

At first, the idea was for John Wick 5 to be the final movie in the popular action series.

They had announced both Chapter 4 and 5 together in 2019, with the original plan to film them one after the other. These two movies were supposed to wrap up the story as a connected pair, concluding the series. However, things have changed since then (especially considering the current main actor of John Wick in the fictional world).

But, if or when the series returns for a fifth movie, it’s likely that this will be the last main John Wick film (at least with Keanu Reeves playing the main character). Keanu Reeves is currently 58 years old, and he will be in his early sixties by the time John Wick 5 is released.

Creating a John Wick movie requires a lot of hard work from Keanu Reeves and the people behind the movie series. Reeves is known for doing most, if not all, of the dangerous stunts in each John Wick film, but he can’t keep doing this forever.

Even people who love excitement like Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise (who stars in the Mission: Impossible movies) can’t avoid getting older. Tom Cruise might retire after the next Mission: Impossible 8 movie. Because of this, it’s likely that if there’s a John Wick 5 movie, it would probably be the last time Keanu Reeves takes part in the thrilling action scenes.

But this doesn’t mean that we won’t hear about the John Wick series again. There are plans for spin-off movies like “Ballerina” and “The Continental.”
